This is a German WWI picklehaube spike helmet cover made from older coarse sand tone cloth.  On the front there is the early type red #12 denoting the 12th regiment. The item is faithfully reproduced to look like the originals. Do note that there were more types of cloth used to make these covers than I could ever hope to count. You can unsew and resew the hooks as needed to adjust the fit of the cover to your helmet. Do note there are two types of hooks used on this cover so you will get either one.
